Overheating is one of the most common and dangerous car problems. When the engine temperature rises above the normal range (85–95 °C), serious damage can occur. Common causes include low coolant, thermostat failure, radiator blockage, water pump issues, or a faulty fan.
Possible Causes
- Coolant leaks or low levels
- Thermostat stuck closed
- Water pump not circulating coolant
- Radiator clogged with debris
- Cooling fan not engaging
- Blown head gasket
Fixes
- Regularly check coolant and use antifreeze mix
- Replace thermostat and water pump at service intervals
- Clean or replace radiator if clogged
- Inspect fan fuse, relay, and motor
- If gasket failure is suspected, take the car to a mechanic immediately
